Money-Saving Challenge: DONE!

We did it! We managed to not eat out for the whole month of August. It was tempting at times, let me tell you, but it really helped knowing I was accountable to all of you -- so thanks for your help!!

The first couple of weeks were the hardest, as we adjusted to saying no to a knee-jerk habit of eating out on challenging evenings. By now, eating out seems like a big treat, and I do want it to stay that way. I want to think twice, thrice even about spending extra money when surely there's something we can pull together at home.

Having the ingredients available for simple but tasty recipes like red lentil soup, quinoa and bell peppers and turkey paninis certainly helped, but I think the biggest change, as in so many things, has been in our mindset and therefore habit.

Now on to our September challenge. What'll it be? Another money-saving challenge? A deep-cleaning (in little bits) challenge? A de-cluttering challenge? An organizing challenge? A sewing challenge? I'm nesting, my friends, big time, so I'm up for any of these. What would you like to work on this month? Tell me!

  1. Sending cards with family pictures to all those "aunts" and "uncles" of your adorable children.... although that make WAY more sense after you have the baby.
