Finding Nemo Cupcakes

Little D has been obsessed with Finding Nemo since we watched it during our trip to California. He looooooves "Mamo," as he calls Nemo (and as he calls lawnmowers also, incidentally). 

So, naturally, for his birthday I went with a Nemo theme, trying to keep it fun but still very simple. The highlight of the theme was these Finding Nemo cupcakes. 

Finding Nemo Cupcake Toppers

   1) Find an image of Nemo online and make a sheet of them to print in your  photo editing software of choice. I used GIMP. 

2) Laminate and cut out. Alternately, use a heavier weight paper.

3) Attach a lollipop stick with tape.                                             

Finding Nemo Cupcakes

To make "sand" I ground up about half a box of graham crackers and spread them over a platter. I chose blue cupcake liners to mimic ocean water. 

I dyed this cream cheese buttercream frosting blue with food gel for "waves." 

White sprinkles added a bit extra fun detail.

Blue balloons and crepe paper "seaweed" hung in strips completed our little ocean theme. 

And a good time was had by all. 

Watching this little guy fall asleep AS he was eating his cupcake was the perfect ending to a sweet day.
