Some ideas for keeping kids occupied during summer stick in my memory and actually brim to the surface when I'm desperate to occupy them constructively. This mini carwash was one of them.
Strangely, I think I encountered it online as a way to keep kids busy indoors; my interpretation of the idea went something more like "water, bubbles, wet hands, moving kids = great OUTSIDE activity for sweltering summer mornings."
So the other morning -- it was one of those mornings -- I grabbed the Pyrex and the kids helped me haul their cars outside (a task made all the more alluring because -- gasp -- Mommy was bringing inside toys out).
Elora-Belle and Little D spent a good half hour sudsing up their vehicles and then, of their own initiative, set up a drying station on their upturned bucket.
Once the heat got to be too much for any of us, we headed back inside while the little cars and trucks and tractors, never cleaner, got sun-drenched dry.
I'm happy to have this simple idea in my little bag of tricks. We, for one, will be headed back to this carwash. ;)
so fun! i love their little concentrating faces! or was it sunny outside? :)
