I'm an introvert. And the most succinct and resonant-to-me definition I've heard of an introvert versus an extrovert is that, while an extrovert gets energy from being with people, an introvert gets energy from alone time. The converse holds true for me too: I get "peopled out" pretty easily, drained if I'm around too many people without a break.
This weekend was an exception. (Of course, being with people I know well usually is.)
We joined a home meeting on Friday - and stayed to watch the opening ceremonies, from Greece to Great Britain.
I love that, as Americans, we had so many countries to get excited about. We cheered for Greece, Ireland, Italy, Israel, and Jamaica. Somehow we missed the Philippines. And for some unknown reason, one of us was excited to see Micronesia...
(I know I'm horrendous at geography, but please tell me I'm not the only one who had never heard of what seemed like half of the countries.)
The kids, and Kitty, watched, rapt.
They even started waving back.
Tell me, have you ever seen such great baby hair??
The next morning we returned to our
dear friends' home for a beautiful and
absolutely scrumptious brunch.
I've wanted to try overnight blueberry French toast for a while, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
This homemade blueberry sauce really took it
over the top. MMMMmmmm!!
A few hours later, we had a
bridal shower at our place.
I will never, ever, get over the color of Knock Out roses. I'd never seen them until I moved to the South, and now I have several bushes of my own. I LOVE them. Even my nail polish choices this summer have mimicked them.
I put some Knock Outs on my mantle too.
But I didn't leave the zinnias out! I'd never seen these until moving to Dixieland either.
There are some perks to being transplanted.
I pulled the pink from the flowers into the rest of the simple decor, realizing later that pink and blue are quite appropriate wedding shower colors. ;)
Others brought food, and it was a pretty and delicious potluck full of funny stories, fellowship, and prayer.
When it was over, I was full - in all three ways -
and happy.
Love the pictures. That new SLR does wonders ;)
